The Brunei Malay Chamber of Commerce and Industry  (BMCCI) or Dewan Perniagaan dan Perusahaan Melayu Brunei (DPPMB) was founded in 1964 by Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Orang Kaya Ratna Setia Dato Paduka Hj Awg Abdul Hapidz Pehin Orang Kaya Laksmana Hj Awg Abdul Razak.

The association was established as a response to fully represent the needs of the Malay businesses in Brunei Darussalam. 

Likewise, the association was endorsed to support the interest of businesses, primarily the development of Malay businesses and other business associations within Brunei Darussalam, and lead them under the umbrella of the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI)

 


The Brunei Malay Chamber of Commerce and Industry is mandated to:

Further the interests of all businesses; primarily to provide the leadership guidance and support on the development of Malay businesses and other business associations under one umbrella in Brunei Darussalam,

Ensure the sustainable, innovative and inclusive development of businesses, specifically to

  1. Ensure the seamless start-up, operations and expansion of Micro Small Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) including Women and Youth;
  2. Encourage participation in local and regional trade activities, and
  3. Provide access to and take advantage of business and investment opportunities for mutual benefit within Brunei Darussalam and the region

Work with lead agencies in Brunei Darussalam, in developing business and industries, and contribute towards economic growth for the development and prosperity of the nation.

The birth of the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry 

The Brunei Malay Chamber of Commerce and Industry saw the need to put into one umbrella organization the various chambers of commerce and business associations in the country and became instrumental in the formation of the Brunei Darussalam National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BDNCCI). At present, lead representatives from the Brunei Malay Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) govern BDNCCI.
